After completing secondary schooling at Methodist Boys School Penang proceeded to do medicine at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India. Graduated with MBBS from Mysore University in 1980. On return, to Malaysia, posted to Penang General Hospital. Worked there until 1984; after which was transferred in 1984 to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kota Kinabalu. 

In 1986, left Government service and joined Malaysia Airlines as Medical Services Controller (Sabah & Sarawak). Held this position until December 2003. During this period, pursued further post-graduate training in Aviation Medicine at the Institute of Aviation Medicine (Farnborough), obtaining the Diploma in Aviation Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians (Lon) in 1995 and the Licentiate of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians (Ireland) in 2001. 

In December 2003 was appointed to Head the Medical Services Department of Malaysia Airlines and was transferred to Kuala Lumpur. 

In 2009, was made Head of both the Medical Services Department and Corporate Occupational Safety & Health Department of Malaysia Airlines and remained there until 2013. On leaving Malaysia Airlines, worked with MASWings at Kota Kinabalu from 2013 until 2015 establishing the Corporate Safety Management Department. 

On leaving MASWings, joined Medisinar Group of Clinics as resident doctor at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport branch in 2015. Currently holds appointments as designated Aviation Medical Examiner for Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia and Civil Aviation and Safety Authority Australia. 

Registered as Occupational Health Doctor with the Department Of Occupational Safety & Health (D.O.S.H.) Malaysia and is also a qualified Medical Review Officer. 

Past appoints include member of the Malaysian Medical Council, Board of Visitor to Hospital Mesra Kota Kinabalu, Member ICAO CAPSCA- ASIA PACIFIC, Member ICAO RAMT, Council Member Malaysian Medical Association, Chairman Malaysian Medical Association (Sabah Branch), Lecturer for Overseas Committee of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine Royal College of Physicians (Ireland), Certified C.P.R. Trainer (MMA). 

Has done a number of presentations at national and international conferences on Aviation and Occupational Health-related topics with the contribution of article to the Berita MMA journal.
